Mini Book Art Competition

Make a mini-book and win some great prizes

Entries must be received by 5pm, Friday 15 August 2025

Use (mostly) paper, respond to the theme and post it to us for judging.

We are raising funds to provide scholarship places to high school students at art/craft workshops in the Arts Muster program, on 23-24 August 2025 in Huskisson, Jervis Bay NSW. Proceeds from the entry feels (under-18s are free) and the sale of books at a pop-up shop will help to send students to arts & crafts workshops this August.

We can’t wait to see your creativity in action!

Thank you to Huskisson’s independent bookshop, Boobook on Owen, for providing some great prizes.

Who can enter (Australian residents only):

  • under 12s (primary school students) can enter one book for free
  • under 18s (high school students) can enter one book for free
  • Open Category 18+ can enter up to two entries for $25 each

What can you enter:

  • The theme is “The Place Where I Live” – your book should relate and respond to the theme.
  • Your book must be made mostly from paper or cardboard – it could be a zine, a paper sculpture, an artist’s book, a comic, a flip book.
  • You can include other materials, eg found objects, string, feather, cloth, etc as embellishments.
  • Words are optional! Your book doesn’t need to contain text, if you choose.
  • Size: A5, or max 21cm in any direction if your book is 3D

Entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 14 August, 2025.

Winners will be selected and notified by Monday 17 August.

Judging

A panel of judges from Jervis Bay will choose a winner and a highly commended from each category. Winners will be notified by email and phone numbers provided in their entry.

Pop-up Book Shop

All entries will be for sale in a pop-up bookshop, on Sunday 24 August 2025 as part of the Arts Muster weekend of workshops, artisans markets and exhibitions in Huskisson, Jervis Bay.

Books will be for sale for $20ea (under-12s books will be for sale for $10), and all proceeds will go towards scholarships for local high school students to attend workshops at the Arts Muster creative program.

Prizes:

Open category

  • winner receives a pack of art papers worth $300
  • highly commended receives a pack of art papers worth $100

Under 18s category

  • winner receives a pack of art papers worth $150
  • highly commended receives a $25 gift voucher from Huskisson’s bookshop, Boobook on Owen

Under 12s category

  • winner receives a $25 gift voucher from Huskisson’s bookshop, Boobook on Owen
